red rain in Kerala

Essay topics:

red rain in Kerala

The reading passage suggests three rational explanations for the red rain phenomenon in Kerala region. However, the lecture contradicts these explanations stating that it is absurd.

First of all, the argument that the blood of bats caused the red rain makes no sense at all. Because the myriad of bats destroyed at the exact same time is simply impossible. Even if there was a thunderstorm or meteor burst, over 500 millions bats can not be dead simultaneously. Moreover, there was no evidence of bats’ wings or feet which explains the absence of destruction.

Second, the theory of a volcanic eruption in the Philippines is disproven with the fact that it turns out that the red rain is only found in Kerala, but nowhere else. None of the countries near India, including the Philippines as known as the origin of a volcanic eruption responsible for the red rain, have experienced the red rain phenomenon.

Finally, the reading passage states the red rain results in the chemical pollution from local factories, and this is absolutely not true. The lecture contradicts it since there are few factories in that area which are not enough to make pollutants to convince the phenomenon to occur. Furthermore, if factories are the cause of this red rain, cities near the factories should experience this phenomenon.
