The passage claimed that the painting attributed to Rembrandt was not painted by himself because of some inconsistency and specific features which did not belong to Rembrandt. However, the lecture revised the reasons mentioned in the reading.

First, the controversy between servant's hat and her expensive cloth has been explained by professors, as she said, the fur color was overpainted lately to increase the painting value

Second, the assumption that based on the light absorbation of fur color the illumination should be decreased in woman's face, was rejected too. As described in the lecture the hat could reflect the light to woman's face

Finally, However, the reading alleged that the examination of painting frame indicate it is constituted of several wood glued together which is not in style of Rembrandt, the professor explained that the woods all were from one tree, and further investigation indicated that these types of woods also used in others Rembrandt painting.
