Some people say that physical exercise should be a required part of every school day. Other people believe that students should spend the whole school day on academic studies. Which opinion do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
In recent times, there has been a widespread debate on whether physical exercise is beneficial for students or not. While some people prefer students to concentrate on their academic classes and ignore exercise classes, I hold the opposite view. I believe that physical exercise should be mandatory for all students because it has a tremendous role in their body.
To begin with, when schools have exercise classes, scholar will be encouraged to be in healthy lifestyle. Today, the percent of obesity has increased because lack of exercise. People become more vulnerable to have several chronic diseases related to the obesity such as heart failure, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. For example, in my hometown Saudi Arabia, students have only one exercise class during the week. Therefore, most students are heavy weight because they spend most of the day sitting on the chair without any physical movement. These students are likely to have many health problems when they become old because of their obesity. On the other hand, students in Japan spend most of their school time doing some yoga and aerobic training. Thus, most of them is in perfect healthy shape.
Adding to the previous point, when scholars have some exercise classes, they will decrease their level of stress. Most physical exercises release all people’s negative thoughts and adjust their mood. For instance, when students do meditation which is a kind of yoga exercise, they will emit all their bad thoughts out of their bodies and they will have more positive attitude.
On top of that, when scholars practice some physical exercises at school, they will broaden their ability to receive knowledge. Most exercises enhance the brain ability to accept information and they allow the brain to memorize better. For example, when I was at school, I was practicing in the gym. Therefore, I realized that my study performance was become better comparing when I was not doing any kind of exercises.
In conclusion, I encourage school to make physical exercise courses mandatory for all students. This is because they will be in a healthy shape, decrease their level of stress, and they will enhance their brain to work better.
