One of the attraction subject through the sea is the construction of artificial reefs that are under debate. The lecture talks about the advantages of building and releasing these artificial reefs to the sea but in the lecture, the professor points out some drawbacks of these kinds of reefs.
Firstly, The first statement of the article states about artificial reefs can develop and increase the competitiveness ability of small-fisher compared to a large competitor. Small fisher can make these reefs in an unknown or secret place to advocate their professional career and their community for burgeoning their economy. Conversely, in the lecture professor completely disagree with reading because of the following reasons. Speaker stated that this idea not comprehensive in due to can caused to insecurity and increase the illegal construction of reefs in an unknown place. It is better that small-fisher informed the public to these reefs in order to maintain and security of their reefs.
Secondly, Artificial reefs can cause an increase in the attraction of fish and other marine creatures on it. Different marine will take place on this type of reefs and will cause an increase of the marine population on their community in location. In the lecture repudiate this advantage of artificial reefs by compelling explanation. Artificial reefs do not increase on fish population while actually, they disturb of the inhabitant by the instability of equilibrium of the community.
Finally, In the article stated that artificial reefs can increase the use of recycling material that would not use for other applications or purposes. Artificial reefs can construct by some outdated car and other objects that are hard to recycle or getaway. These materials can be used as a cheap, environment-friendly application. The speaker says that this not a good way or not pragmatic to reuse this material as reefs in the sea. To put in another way, this may be caused by the destruction of the environment or marine habitats by the release of chemical toxins and the dislocate of some creature in the storm condition.
In conclusion, for all of the reason the speaker mentioned in the lecture, he thinks artificial reefs not suitable to build because of three reasons that discussed.
