summarize the points made in the lecture about problems with living in asteroids, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made in the reading about benefits of living in an asteroid.
The reading discusses about the possible benefits of using asteroids for future colonization of humans living on earth. However, the professor in the lecture thinks that this idea might not be so much practical. He opposes with the satisfactions made in the reading and provides three reasons to refute each of the positive factors included in the reading section.
First, the article states that asteroids posses a lower gravity in comparison with other larger planets which can be useful for a safe landing of the spaceship. In contrast, the professor indicates that asteroids with lower gravity have their own certain risks. For example, they may cause people to experience weaker muscle masses and bone density issues that can be seriously dangerous for humans in a long period of time.
Second, the passage explains that these asteroids are often rich in valuable metallic elements which can benefit the habitats of the asteroids. On the other hand, he illustrates that although some of these asteroids have abundant amounts of minerals and metals, their costs and transporting complications might alter their price in the future market that is considered for them. Also, their volume and abundancy can affect their finishing price that can make this industry less profitable for people who want to exploit them.
Third, the reading regards that asteroids have a short distance from our earth and can be easily reached. In contrary, professor reminds that this fact can not be true all the time, since the distance between asteroids and earth change constantly in a periodic manner. Therefore, asteroids which are closer to us now may orbit and position in a farther place in the future which can influence the possibility for reaching them and the feasibility of living on them.
