Second, the article posits that the traffic problems will disappear completely with smart cars because cars could be followed more closely, so they will be driven at high speed. Thus, the commuting time is reduced. However, the professor says that the commuting time will not be reduced. According to the professor, introducing this new technology will encourage more people to drive, and therefore the addition of cars won't allow drivers to take advantage of the speed.
