Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge specific points made in the reading passage.
The lecturer challenges each of the the possible ways agnostids may have lived that were presented in the reading by pointing out flaws in each presented explanations. She uses evidences that contradicts the assumptions made in the passage, effectively making them invalid.
First, it is pointed out in the lecture that agnostids, unlike other hunting arthopods, have relatively undeveloped eyes. Furthermore, they possess no other auxiliary sense organs to assist them in hunting. Therefore, these facts challenge the notion presented in the passage that agnostids may have been hunting animals.
After refuting the first idea in the reading, the lecturer goes on to cast doubt on the idea that agnostids were seafloor dwellers. She explains that other types of seafloor dwellers have limited mobility, which will confine seafloor dwellers in a small area. However, agnostids were found in vast areas that span over large distances, an indication that they were not seafloor dwellers.
Finally, the lecturer contends that agnostids could not have been parasites either. She points out that parasitic species generally do not have a large population because that will kill off the hosts. However, there were many agnostid fossils found, indicating the largeness of their numbers. This fact challenges the idea that agnostids were parasites.
The points made in the lecture makes the assumptions in the reading invalid. The lecturer uses facts to show that agnostids could not have been predators, seafloor dwellers, or parasites.
