The text and the lecture offer two opposing views about the methods that have been proposed to prevent decline of frog populations. While the passage states several methods to prevent frogs from declination, the professor casts doubt on those methods, stating that the methods are not practical.
First, the lecturer challenges the idea that farmers should not use harmful pesticides. He mentions it decreases many economical profits. Though the text states that by not using pesticides frogs would not be effected more, the speaker mentions whether farmers do not use pesticides, they cannot compete with others in markets and cause severe disadvantages for them than other farmer who use pesticides in other parts of the world.
Second, according to the reading researchers have discovered several methods to treat infection. However, the speaker questions this, arguing that the treatment should be individually to each frogs which is difficult. Additionally, he said the treatment cannot prevent infection which it need to be do repeatedly, so it will be complicated as well as expensive.
Finally, the instructor refutes the idea that waters should be prevented from excessive water use and development. He mentions excessive water use is not the problem, global warming is the real problem. Although the passage states by preventing excessive use of water, many frog species would recover, the lecturer argues it is global warming that cause extinction to many wetland habitats.
