The reading and lecture are both about whether size of the brain relates to level of intelligence of person? The author of the reading states that although this might be true yet their are other principle factor such that affect intelligence of a person. The lecturer agrees with the author and states his view point in his favor.
Firsty, the author begins by stating that quality of tissue has a lot to do with one's smartness. In addition, it is related with the complexity of neuron connection, efficiency in producing and releasing neurotransmitters and so on. The lecturer corroborates this by illustrating the Einstine brain that is found to be intricate in nature. Furthermore, sensory and motor corices in his brain are proved to the reason for his intelligence.
Secondly, according to the writer, indeed brain size matters and they are seen in primates that assert large brain size. Additionally, this is because of the size of cerebral cortices directly connected with the demands of resides in complex network. The speaker, on other hand, states that this is speculated in the evolution of hominades as well. Moreover, owing to the neuron connection, humans are susceptible to create imaginary scenario, worrying, planning and so on.
Finally, the reading passage also notes that intelligence of person is impacted by cortical convolution which means the more the folding of brain surface, highly the chance for a person to be smart. The professor goes on to say that this has been seen in Einstine brain that no has ever exhibited the complexity of neural connections as his brain did. This why the degree of intelligence in his brain is profound.
