Tidal Power
The reading and the lecture are both about the use of Tidal Power for producing energy in a seawater environment. The writer believes that Tidal Power is an great source of energy to avoid using fossils. The lecturer challenges the statements mande by the author. She is of the opinion that there are many drawbacks in the application of this method for generating energy.
First of all, the writer argues that the installation of gater and machines on aquatic areas in a wise way to produce energy. It is mentioned that as the gates open and water gets into the dam, the force inside this produces energy. However, the professor refutes this by asserting that this routine might bring many environmental consequences in the ambient. For example, this leads to a reduce in life´s quality in that environment, such as in birds and fish. Additionally, it contributes to the grow of a negative organism and to the destruction of the natural habitat.
Secondly, the author states that this is a renewable, non-affecting and productive energy. On the other hand, the lecturer elaborates on this by mentioning that this will affect people in the area. She puts forth the idea that fishing boats are not going to be capable to move on the water’s surface because of the gates. As a result, economy in the zone might decreace due to the lack of this activity.
What’s more, fish are not able to migrate to other waters because of the wall constructed in the dam, and design a bareer with space for the fish to migrate will undoubtedly rise the cost of production
