Tidal power
The reading and the lecture are both about tidal power. While the author of the reading suggests that tidal power has many benefits for generating electrical power, the lecturer challenges each of the reasons stated by the reading. To begin with, the author of the reading states that the energy generated from tidal power is effective and could be produced largely. However, the lecturer challenges this specific argument by arguing that there are not enough places to produce a high amount of electricity. Secondly, the author of the reading argues that this kind of energy is safe for the environment. On the other hand, the lecturer states that tidal power has a negative impact on the quality of the water, therefor birds and fishes will be affected. Moreover, she said that the whole habitat will be destroyed. Finally, the lecturer points out that the tidal power system will have a bad effect on the migrated fish, and a solution to prevent that would be so expensive to take. Also, people who live beside rivers will be affected and their economy, which mainly depends on fishing, will be destroyed. To conclude, the lecturer suggests that we should think critically about tidal power, and match its drawbacks with its benefits.
