Both the lecture and the passage discuss the consequences of the policy named “let it burn “which the United States has relied on it to refuse to control forest fires. They analyze the Yellowstone fire as one of the major fires of time. The passage mentioned several reasons to confirm that forest fires would cause damage which the speaker contradicts with them and distinguish the fire as a not destructive occurrence.
For the first reason, they begin with the impression of it on plants. The passage notes that a vast amount of land and trees were destroyed by fire and Yellowstone known as a national park became a wrecked land. The speaker opposes that by assuming the disaster as a chance for new plants to grow, like plants with the necessity for heat.
Secondly, the writer considers the wildlife whose natural habitat is destroyed and they won't return after their escaping. On the other hand, the lecture claims that it is a new opportunity for some specie to live and make the food chain stronger.
In the end, the passage knows the tourism industry gets endangered in scorched places. Where the lecturer asserts that fire incident doesn't happen constantly so there is no need to worry for tourists and this industry will survive.
