Both the reading and the listening are discussing the possibility of permanent human presence on the venus. While the text provides some reasons to support the idea that maintaining the human presence on Venus is impossible, the professor casts doubt on them and believes it is certainly possible.
First of all, the writer makes the point that the pressure at the venus' surface is greater than the earth' surface that it crush anything that people might land on Venus' surface. The professor, however, demonstrates another idea that people can build a station at about 50 km higher than venus surface. In that latitude, the pressure is equal to earth surface pressure. Therefore, people's devices would not be crushed.
Secondly, the professor rejects the claim which made in the reading passage that there is a lack of both water and oxygen on venue's surface, the lecturer asserts that the carbon dioxide and so2 are the essential constituents of the venus's atmosphere so astronauts can produce oxygen from this element. therefore, the human doesn't have to carry water and oxygen from earth.
Lastly, the author states that there are thick clouds of carbon on the venus' atmosphere that cause reflects 60 percent of sunlight reflect space. The speaker calls this idea into a question by saying that these clouds are not thick enough to reflect 60percent of sunlight and the sunlight radiation can move through them. Moreover, these clouds are lower than the human station, so the people who live in the station can benefit from both the direct and reflected sunlight.
