TOEFL TPO 05 - Integrated Writing Task

The reading and the lecture are both about uses of the great house. The author of the reading provides three theories about the use of the great house. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He thinks that evidence is inaccurate.
First of all, the author points out that according to the first theory these hoses for use as a residence of hundreds of people. This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says there was no evidence that hundreds of people lived there. Moreover, he says that evidence of fireplaces was not enough for hundreds of people.
Secondly, the second theory contends that Chaco houses were used to store food for a long period such as grain maize. The lecture rebuts this argument. He says that there were not proof of grains that these houses were used to store food. There were founded remains of big containers.
Finally, the third theory states that houses were used as ceremonial centers. Archeologist, near the house, founded relics of some materials used in ceremonies. The lecturer, on the other hand, posits that proofs founded were from other materials such as sand, stone, contraction materials, not ceremonial.
In conclusion, the lecture and the reading are both about Chaco houses and their use. The professor effectively challenges the claims made in the article.
