In this passage author proposing that employee have option to opt if they want to work four days in a week instead of five days in a week with little low salary i.e 80 % of five days of working employee.
Author mentioned here that if the employee work for four days in a week it will be beneficial to company because they need to pay lesser to employees for same amount of work but in lecture professor is contradict with this statement as working four days in a week pursue more costly to company as the medical and other benefits need to provide same without respective of five days working or four days working employee. In addition, company need to hire more people for extra work and have to pay them as well all benefits. So four days working may lead to company to spend more cost to employees.
Secondly, author mentioned in paragraph four days working employee may create more opportunity of employment as employer can hire more resources who also interesting to work four days a week in 80% of salary. The lecturer is not agree with this statement as mentioned in early paragraph as well it will not be cost effective for employer as they need to pay medical and other benefits also to additional resources so they will be end up with extra cost. So, Instead of hiring new resources company may expect current employees to work overtime in same amount of salary to complete their assigned task.
Third, In paragraph author mentioned the employees working for four days in week they can spend quality of time with their family, but it is not convincing to lecturer as it may lead employee life more worst and irksome. employee working for four days may be in the top list of firing if the economical breakdown happens. They will not get promoted as company prefer full time employee for managerial position, because they want some one who can take hold on other employee for all five days in a week.
In Conclusion lecturer won't be satisfy with the proposal of author of working four days in a week with low salary.
