The article states that changing the number of working days from 5 to 4 is benifitial and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that the reasons provided by the author are not acurate and the results will not be the same as it was described in the text and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading posits that with this change the companies will profit more and reduce unemployment rate. The professor refutes this point by saying that it will acutally be costly for them and provides some reasons for that. He states that, since with this change more employees will be requared, as a result companies will have to have more training programs. Also, the health care will be a problem and they will need more rooms and equipments for office.
Second, the article claims that this will make the work easier for the workers., owever, the professor contends that this change will actually raise the expectations from the empoyees because the companies will expect the same results as it was when the number of working days were 5 days per week, which will result in more stress and unpleasent feeling in employies and they would have to work harder to achieve that.
Third, the reading avers that this change will benifite empoyees by giving them more free time and increase their quality of life. The lecture opposes this by saying that actually this will put the job of the workers in risk because the will have less chance to advance in their work. Also, he states that the companies prefer the empoyees who have 5 days each week so this change will decrease the chance of promotion.
