TPO-03 - Integrated Writing Task Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rem

In this set of material the reading discuses about the Rembrandt portrait and the characteristics to sustain the fact that really the paint belongs to Rembrandt. In contrast with the reading, the listening describes all the reasons to consider this portrait to the Rembrandt catalogue.

Firstly, It is said in the reading that the way that the women is dressed have a fail, owing to she was wearing a dress with a line cap which only the servant used. It do not fit because as the same time the women is using a fur collar, a piece with a big value. It is reasonable to think that a servant could not be using a fur collar. Hence, Rembrandt cannot neglect this detail. Contrary with the belief of the passage, the listening affirm that in spite of the above, some one added the fur collar to increase the value of the paint.

Secondly, the passage pointed out that the lights and shadows do not fit together. For instance, the painter did not correctly illuminate the women face. The women face is absorbing the light and do not look realistic as the Rembrandt paintings. Rembrandt was carefully with those details. But conversely, the listening suggest that the restoration caused this mistake in lights and shadows.

Finally, It is said in the reading that the painting has a several pieces of wood glued together and the Rembrandt paintings were setting only with a piece of wood. Contraire with the reading, the listening affirm that pieces of wood could be added to rise the value of the Rembrandt portrait.
