Both the reading passage and the lecture are about monumental Dutch painter Rembrandt. The passage states there are some clues about the paintings support the idea that some works of him actually not painted by Rembrandt and gives three reasons of support. However, the professor claims whole paintings belongs to only Rembrandt and refutes each of author's reasons.

First, the passage claims that one of his paintings there is an inconsistency and this problem support the idea that it could not be painted by Rembrandt. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt on this claim by stating color pigments in this painting proves that in order to increase the price of painting some parts of it added 100 years later.

Second, the writer states that Rembrandt was proficient to use light and shadow on this paintings, nevertheless, in particular part of his works these elements do not fit at the same time. The professor refutes this point. He states that some parts of this paint is removed. In original painting simple color used in the human face and this color reflect the light and eliminate the face. What's more, as we expected, some light shift realistically.

Third, the author claims that, Rembrandt often uses wood panels for his painting. However, analyzing of the backside of the work shows that it was used different panel which includes few parts of wood glued at the same time.Contrary to this claim, the professor argues that in order to paint make valuable few parts of wood glued together. Original panel of his painting uses wood panels as Rembrandt uses. Furthermore, scientists analyzing the woods, and prove that it belongs to same tree.
