Both the reading and the lecture discuss endotherm animals. While the reading states that dinosours can be considered endothermic animals and provides three reasons of support, the lecture cast doubts this idea by saying that dinosours can not be classified as a endotherm animal because of the evidence found by scientists and refutes each of the reading’s reasons.
First, the reading passage claims that dinosours should be considered endotherm animals because some fossils of them have been found in polar regions; as a result, they should have a constant temperature in their bodies in order to survive in this enviroment. The professor opposes to that idea by saying that the temperature at that time was not as high as today so they could have survive without any problem. Moreover, The professor mentions that dinosours could have migrated or hibernated when cool weather begins.
Second, the reading passage says that the leg position of the dinosours have a connection with endothermic animals because it allows animals to do well in physical activities such as running. The professor goes againist this idea by saying that the leg position was not related with an endothermic characterist but with the way dinosours could bear their huge bodies.
Finally, the reading asserts that dinosours had a special bone structure called haversian canals that is a structure found in many endothermic species and is used to accelerate the growth of endothermic animals. The professor counters this claim by saying that dinosours indeed have this haversian canals, but also they have a special bone called rings growth that is the one responsible for the height of the dinosours.
