Both lecture and article describe the Chevalier's memoir. The reading passage claims that memoir contains inaccurate the data. In really, presented event in some episode is more interesting and glamorous but it was not happened in real. While, the lecturer says that whole memoir were not correct but episodes mentioned in the reading passage was reliable and accurate in the historical periods.
Firstly, the lecturer mentions that the chevalier took loan from the merchant because of he sold his properties but time need to transfer money on bank account. In Switzerland need huge money for gambling and the Chevelier has not enough money, therefore he took the loan. It does not mean that Chevalier was not affluent. The lecturer refutes the point made in the reading passage that the Chevalier borrowed money so he was not wealthy.
Secondly, the lecturer explains that when the Chevalier converse to the Voltaire, each night he wrote the daily conversation on his notes. The notes helped to him to made correct the memoir. He contradicts the doubt made in the reading passage that the Chervalier not remember exact conversation and not accurate the event presented in memoir.
Lastly, the lecturer states that other prisoners were more powerful but they could not escape by bribery, since it was very strick in the Venice for bribery. According to the government record's the ceiling was repairing after prisoner escapes, therefore this evidence bolster the memoir events.
