According to the reading passage, hydrogen based fuel cell engine is better than combustion engine for automobile source of power, because of readily availability of hydrogen, cheaper, and less pollution. However, according to lecture, hydrogen is not good solution as source of power because of not easily produce hydrogen, not safe for environment and expensive.
Firstly, the article states that combustion engine is depending on the petroleum and gasoline but hydrogen easily available in vast of sources and it is renewable sources. In contrast, the lecturer mentions that hydrogen not easily produce because of need the liquid stage in -250 Celsius degree and it is not possible to hydrogen obtain in the natural source, therefore require to produce artificial and cooling laboratory, consequently hydrogen is difficult to produce.
Secondly, the passage implies that hydrogen based fuel cell not pollute the environment as compare to combustion engine. On the other hand, the speaker explains that purification of the hydrogen form the water get harm the natural environment hence, burning coal pollute the environment.
Thirdly, according to the reading, fuel cell engines cheaper. However, the professor point out that fuel engine need the component made of the platinum for chemical reaction, without platinum not any chemical process occur which is require to produce power in fuel cell. Platinum is too much expensive.
To sum up, it is clearly observed that the ideas depicted in the reading has been refutes by speaker with sufficient evidence and example.
