According to the reading passage, people are not trending to read literature more than they did, so this is a worrying development for the reading public, for the culture, and for the future of literature. However, all three reasons are challenged and are not convincing enough.
First, reading books except for literature provides mental suppression. Literature helps us to imagine and extend our understanding of language. Nevertheless, a lot of books such as science writing history, political analysis have a high quality and they are too inventive.
Second, people are reading books which are written badly. Moreover, people would like to spend time watching TV and listening to music instead of reading literature like novel and play, so the level of culture is decreased. Nonetheless, a lot of books are not literature but they are written well. Additionally, it is not true that we suppose people are not reading literature books, so they are not spending time with other books. Moreover, writing, listening to music and watching TV do not determine the value of culture in themselves, so people are not decreasing the level of culture by listening to music and watching TV. Nowadays, culture has a lot of forms that speak about modern concerns more than literature does.
Finally, people are not interested in reading literature, so publishers are investing less than they did. However, publishers do not invest in literature, for authors like to write literature books that people can not understand easily.
