The article discusses the benefits of salvage logging both for the economy and the damaged forest and provides three examples to illustrate that. However, the professor contradicts those statements and makes three reasons as the support.
Firstly the reading claims that after a devastating fire, if the dead trees would not be removed, it would take many years for decomposition and During these years new trees could not grow in that place. But the professor refutes that point by saying that the natural decomposition process will enrich the soil and provide a suitable environment for the next generation of the trees.
Second, the article asserts that the insects like the Spruce Bark Beetle will accumulate in where the decaying woods are. But the professor explains that these creatures are not harmful to the forest at all. Besides, the other contributors and inhabitants like the births can use those places as well.
Third, the reading states that the salvage logging has an enormous impact on the economy. Nevertheless, the lecture opposes to that statement by pointing that the economic benefits of doing such thing are small and short span because many expensive tools and machines like helicopters will be needed to maintain that place. Also, the job which might be created for this aim are temporary, and it needs hiring the people who are not local which cost a lot of training.
