In the reading passage, the author claims that the field of archeology encounters sever obstacles and restrictions in Britain, which contains a wide array of precious traces of human settlements living in the past, by pointing out 3 reasons of support. However, finding all the ideas implausible and questionable, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text. She refers to the rule established in 1990 in the United Kingdom that altered all the difficulties mentioned in reading and did enhance substantial improvement in all those three areas.
At first, the author argues that worthy artifacts are being destroyed due to construction projects. Conversely, the professor demonstrates that based on the 1990's regulation, before any construction begun, the site should be scrutinized by expert archeologists which had not done previously. Besides, with the cooperation of government and constructor, all the artifacts have been excavated properly and preserved in scientific manner.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that owing to lack of financial support, remarkable amount of interesting sites left without any excavation. On the other hand, the lecturer disputes this point by clarifying the fact that according to the rule, any operation which undertake with the aim of initial examination of the constructions' sites should be financially supported by the constructor. Therefore, having earned more fund in addition to the governmental supports, archeologists are able to do far more researches in comparison to the past.
Finally, the author asserts that so restrained is the job opportunities for archeologists that they have been compelled to go for the jobs in other fields. The professor, though, dismisses this idea by subscribing to the point that nowadays the number of paid archeologists has increased significantly. As a matter of fact, having engaged in various steps of construction sites including the examining, preserving, doing the research and data analyzing, the archeologists can find the job in a variety fields which are not available in the past.
