The author of the reading states that archeology, which is a science about unearthing and studying old artifacts, had some problems and restrictions in the past century in the united kingdom. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He says that the new guideline that the government has established is conversely improved many aspects of archeology.

First of all, the author points out that because new building project a lot of valuable artifacts were destroyed as builders did not care about them. This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that according to the guideline building companies have to exam the sites before digging foundations to see if it has any archeological value.

Secondly, the author contends that many archeologists had poor financial support from the government to make researches. The lecturer rebuts this argument by saying that due to the new rules, construction companies have to fund the archeological works. Thus, helped to increase the number of studies and investigations.

Finally, the author states that there were only a few positions available for archeologists and that it was hard to build a career. The lecturer, on the other hand, posits that because of the new guideline the companies have to hire only archeologists to do all the works starting from examining the site to writing reports.
