The reading passage and the lecture are both about different approaches for saving Torreya Taxifora species. The author of the snippet believes that it is possible to save the tree from depletion by using one of three ways discussed in the reading passage. On the other hand, the lecturer considers that the purposals made in the reading passage will not lead to the growth of the Torreya taxifoha population, and she reinforces her opinion by providing several exaplames.
First of all, there is identified in the reading fragment that moving the trees to the different location will help its to florish and increase Torreya taxifoha population. However, the speaker asserts that this technic didn’t bring any benefit in the past. She made an example of Black locos tree, which was moved to the different area. After this it spreaded out and killed other extinct species. Consequenlty, under such circumstances, it is dengerous to move Torreya taxifoha to other place, because the process of population growth couldn’t be under control.
The subsequent lecturer argument is related to the statement made in the excerpt, that for maintaining the population it could be grown in the research centers. The professor disputs this by claimimg that Torreya taxifoha will not be able to survive in the artificial environment, because it should be large and geneticaly diverse for being healthy and stable population. However, It is impossible while the small number of species live in the reaserch centers.
