The passage states that because of the large scale of the damage, people called for replacing the "let it burn" policy with a policy of extinguishing forest fires and it provides three kinds of damage. The lecturer, nevertheless, explains that burning is the natural part of ecological and it is a creative agent.
First, the reading claims that Yellowstone fired caused huge damage to the park's trees and vegetation. Conversely, the lecturer opposes this point by saying that it causes to have new vegetation and plants that are diverse in the park. The professor contends that the new plants start to appear after a fire.
In addition, the article posits that the wildlife was affected too. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that this also is creative about providing a new opportunity for animals. According to the professor, small animals start to replace trees that produce new habitat and foods that are stronger before a fire.
Finally, the passage expresses that by decreasing the value of park as a tourist attraction, the local economy will have a negative result. Quite on the contrary, the lecturer emphasizes that this result happens, if burning happen every year and that is not true.
Thus, the professor disproves each of the author's kinds of damage
