The reader claims three possible arguments against using Ethanol as fuel and replacing the gasoline in the United States. He provides reasons for supporting his debate. On the other hand, the professor counters these specific points and presents clues to call into the information in the passage and he refuses each of the author’s reasons.
First, the professor says the Ethanol does not increase global warming because it produces from plants. And these plants are absorbing the CO2 which is the causes of global warming, so by that way, the plant releases the waste product come from consuming the Ethanol as fuel. In this way, the speaker opposites what the author disputes about the Ethanol will add a problem to the environment because it is using also produce the CO2, the greenhouse gas.
Second, the speaker discusses the Ethanol is not effecting on the food resources of the other animals because it is manufacturing from the cellulose part of the plant and this part does not eat by animals. So production of Ethanol will not reduce foods of animals as the reader says that enhancing the outputs of Ethanol will negatively influence on foods of the animals due to utilizing highly amount of plants.
Third, the professor says that the price of Ethanol does not go up after increasing its production because the data record shows that the amount will decrease by about 40%. And this will occur after an improvement in the production due to increasing the demands of the Ethanol Even though he admits the government is supporting to the Ethanol producers. Conversely, the author says the government costs a lot of money because of the Ethanol production and increment in the price will happen after the government stops that assistance.
