TPO-22 - Integrated Writing Task Ethanol fuel, made from plants such as corn and sugar cane, has been advocated by some people as an alternative to gasoline in the United States. However, many critics argue that ethanol is not a good replacement for gasol

The main idea of both the reading passage and the lecture is about ethanol as a possible alternative for gasoline. The reading passage provides three reasons of support. On the other hand, the professor rejects whatever mentioned in the passage.
First, the reading passage discusses that ethanol would not help to solve global warming. Nevertheless, the professor refutes this point and states that ethanol will not add global warming because ethanol produces from plants such as corn and growing plants will lead to the removal of carbon dioxide.
Second, the reading passage discusses that ethanol leads to reduce the amount of food source for animals. On the other hand, the professor rejects this point and states that ethanol produces from celloluse in cell wall which not eaten by animals and consequently source of food for animal would not reduce.
Eventually, the reading passage talks about the high cost of ethanol. But, the professor is against this point and states that we will be able to reduce the price of ethanol in the future. The professor adds that a study shows if production of ethanol increases by three times then its price will decrease by forty percent.
All in all, the reading passage provides three reasons about ethanol as a possible alternative for gasoline. On the other hand, the professor thinks that none of these is reasonable.
