TPO-42 - Integrated Writing Task Glass is a favored building material for modern architecture, yet it is also very dangerous for wild birds. Because they often cannot distinguish between glass and open air, millions of birds are harmed every year when the

The main idea of both the reading passage and the lecture is about some solutions to reduce the possibility of flying birds through the glass. On the other hand, the professor rejects what ever mentioned in the passage.
First, the reading passage discusses that we can replace the regular glass with one-way glass. Nevertheless, the professor refutes this point and states that one-way glass works as a mirror and birds do not distinguish the mirror. Thus, one-way glass is as ineffective as regular glass. Moreover, if birds see a reflection of sky or tree in a mirror, they will try to fly through it.
Second, the reading passage discusses that that we can use paint colorful lines on regular glass and we can see through the openings in them. On the other hand, the professor rejects this point and states that birds see the openings as holes and try to fly through them. Unless, the openings do design extremely small which in such case the room will be so dark.
Eventually, the reading passage discusses that we can create an artificial magnetic field to guide birds because they can sense magnetic fields. But, the professor is against this point and states that birds use this ability during traveling long distances and they do not use this ability for travel from a side of city to another. The professor adds that, in the case of short distances, they use their eyes and brightening of light for navigation.
All in all, the reading passage provides three solutions to prevent injuries to birds while they fly. on the other hand, the professor thinks that none of these is reasonable.
