The reading and the lecture both discuss decreasing in population of yellow cedar in northwestern North America. The author of the reading believes that there is some determined causes that scientists found out about this phenomenal. On the other hand, the lecturer opposes reasons in the reading by providing detailed information.
First and foremost, the author claims that insects are effective on this issue. This point is challenged by the professor. He explains that this is not a basic reason for this declining. He thinks that researchers do not know about the main reasons of this problematic matter.
Second, the author mentions that brown bears claw at these trees to gain a high level of sugar by eating tree bark. The lecturer rebuts this point by states that there are main lands and islands in the North America. Also, there is no bear in islands. Consequently, bears are not effective on this problem. As everybody knows, this is proved that a factor is important if it will be effective on any item in each same situation.
Last but not least, the reading says that changing in climate is a main reason for this reduce. In the contrast, the lecturer refutes this point by explaining that it is possible to have some sensitive cedar by climate changes, but it is not a dying reason.
