The passage and lecture both discuss three assumptions around an animal fossil, which is dubbed Tyrannosaurus rex (T. rex), and its remaining tissues. The reading posits that found materials in T. rex's leg bone can be the remaining of blood vessels, red blood cells, and collagen. In contrast, the professor explains the arguments of the reading are not convincing and demonstrates some counterarguments.
Firstly, the text puts out the small channels and soft materials inside of the bone could be a suggestion for blood vessels. The lecture refutes this and mentions that it is not necessary those substances were blood vessels. They could be created by bacteria which colonized in the leg's hollow. When bacteria leaved bone, they could remain behind traces of organic materials.
Secondly, the article argues that the investigation of the bone attested the presence of spheres and also the red blood cells. However, the lecturer says the fossils of other animals found in the same place indicate the primitive animals did not have red blood cells. So spheres could not be the remains of the told cells. They possibly had another origin like reddish minerals.
Thirdly, the reading claims that the bone examination, which has been carried out by scientists, affirmed the existence of collagen. The lecturer denies this and says that collagen perhaps cannot last for long time, so finding a 70 million years old collagen contradicts our idea. It can spring from much more recent source such as skin of a researcher who attempted to carry the bone.
