The reading and listnenig are arguing over a question whether the Sinosauropteryx had feathers. The passage lists out three reason to prove that the Sinosauropterys had no feathers. On the contrary, the lecturer refuses these reasons and she believes that these reasons are unconvincing.
First, based on the passage, the lines on the bones of the fossils were formed by dcomoposition of the skin fibers after the animal death. In the contrast, the lecturer rebutes this reasion and she states that there are other animals' fossils in this site; None of other animals' fossils have decompistion lines like these lines. In addition, the fossils have been preserved in good condition. As a result, the ash environemnt was a good environement for preservation not decomposition.
Second, the author mentions that the lines are remain of frills not feathers. The lecturer, however, casts doubt this claim and she asserts that the bichemical analysis shows that, there are some materials in the fosills called bricamon. These materials are existed where the feathers exist not where the frills exist. Therefore, the bichemical results prove that these animals have fethers not frills.
Finally, the passage author states that the fethears have two function: flight and regulating the temperature. Nevertheless, the lecturer challenges this idea and she mentions piccup birds which use thier feathers for mating. She claims that the Sinosauropteryx had collurful feathers to show.
All in all, the passage claims the Sinosauropteryx had no feathers and the lines on the their fossils are misprinted. On the contrary, the lecturer chalenges author reasons and she mentions that sinosauropterys had feathers.
