In this set of materials, the reading passage states that human may not present on Mars, because it has a harsh and inhospitable condition. On the other hand, The listening section brings into question the reading by providing different reasons (and examples).

First, the reading passage indicates that pressure surface of Venus is at least 90 times greater than pressure surface of Earth, so spacecraft and humans have been crashed; in contrast, the lecturer opposes this view by mentioning that by establishing floating station above Venus surface, the most problem may solve. This station must build about 50km above the Venus surface. So, in the floating station atmospheric pressure on Venus' surface much lower than the surface of it, and it is equal to the earth. As a result, atmospheric pressure on Venus' surface does not dangerous for human and spacecraft.

Furthermore, the reading argues that Venus does not have reservoirs of water and oxygen, also, by compounds of the Venus, people cannot produce water; conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. He points out that compounds of Venus are carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid. People can make water and oxygen by some chemical process on the compounds. So, it is not needed to transfer water and oxygen to Venus.

Finally, according to the reading, Venus' surface has think cloud which prevents the sunlight to reach the Venus' surface, so people can not make electricity by solar power. However, the professor believes that on the station, the cloud not think as the surface of Venus. Also, the clouds can reflect the sunlight, and the sunlight is able to reach the station. As a result, people can use both reflect sunlight and direct sunlight to produce electricity. Furthermore, they can produce electricity more than they use.
