The reading passage argues that as birds cannot distinguish the glass from the air, they strictly harm when they fly. The author listed three solutions tp prevent this issue. However, the Speaker finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute all of them.
First, the author points out that clear glass can be replaced by one-way glass and the people in the place can see out but from outside it acts as a mirror. In contrast, the speaker asserts that birds are not able to recognize the mirror so when the picture of sky and trees reflexed in the glass they wrongly hit it. Hence, he rebuts this solution.
Second, the author mentioned that by using colorful or designated glass which for example have some stripes on it, not only are people able to see the outside through the hole but also it protects the birds. On the other hand, the speaker casts doubt on this issue by standing that birds see the opening as a hole that they can enter the building. Besides, if they want to make a small hole, the in-door is dark.
Last but not least, the author proposes that by using a magnetic field, which birds use for navigation, they can emit the magnetic signals that keep the birds far away from the building. On the contrary, the speaker dismisses this solution and states that birds use the magnetic field for very long distances. For instance, when they navigate from the cold area to the warm area before the winter, the magnetic field helps them to navigate. Though, they use their eyes and the sun brightness for the short trip.
