TPO-42 - Integrated Writing Task Glass is a favored building material for modern architecture, yet it is also very dangerous for wild birds. Because they often cannot distinguish between glass and open air, millions of birds are harmed every year when the

In this set of material, both, the reading and the listening passage are discussing the danger that represent the windows glass in the buildings due to they are injured when try to fly through the windows. Nevertheless, the reading and listening passage are completely contradictory. Whereas the reading puts forwards the view about three feasible solutions the lecture refutes the reading points.

First of all, the reading passage develop the claim about one solution using one-way glass, the solution consist in design the window glass, transparent inside but the birds wont be able to see through and they will think it is a solid material. However, the lecture refute this solution, since affirm this kind of glass will reflect the sky and the bird will fly through it.

Secondly, meanwhile the reading support the point of view about colorful design, so that way consist in stripes paint over the glass, therefore, the birds will avoid the glass to not be hurt. Despite of this explanation, the lecture argue, the birds could try to pass between lines, thinking there is space between.

Finally, the last proposal presented by the reading, consist in using material with magnetic fields. The magnetic fields will produce the birds avoid the windows. As opposed with this argue, the listening explain that is not possible, since, the birds only use magnetic fields during long travels, for example in winter for migration. For that reason, it is not feasible to protect the birds to be hurt.
