Based on the reading material, the author stated that there are 3 viable arguments for archaeologists regarding the of historical evidence of the silver coins founded in the state of Maine in the United States. However, the professor found this idea bereft of sufficient reasoning and gave some ideas to the contrary.
Initially, the author stated that it would not possible for the Native Americans to travel all the great distances from Maine site to the Norse site in Canada to brought silver coins. However, the lecturer refuted this idea by stating that many other objects came from long distances to the United States. The Native Americans traveled all great distances to brought these objects and it would be possible that the silver coins had been brought to the Maine site from Norse Settlements.
Another point mentioned by the writer of the reading passage was that since no other coins have been found at the Canadian site, the Norse didn't bring any silver coins with them. That being said, the professor repudiated this one too by clarifying that it wouldn't be necessarily true. When the Norse people backed to the Europe, They brought everything with themselves to the Europe, including all the silver coins. Thus, it would be possible that they took all the coins back with them to the Europe.
The final point discussed in the reading passage was that there was no use for European coins in the North America. Yet again, the lecturer criticized this idea. She said that American people valued unusual objects. They appreciated silver coins for their beauty and used it in order to made necklaces and jewellery. Thus, American traded silver coins with European and it wasn't futile at all for the Native American.
