Although the author explains three main hypotheses to prove that European silver coin, found at the site of Maine in the United States, is fake and it is brought by someone else recently to deceive public, the professor finds them dubious and brings up three counterclaims to refute them all.
Firstly, the author mentions the great distance that they have been brought which is too far, from the site of eastern Canadian called Norse. The professor, however, gainsays this idea and states that there are numerous objects that were brought from large distances. In addition, North American used to travel remote areas because they were interested in going new regions. Thus, they could have traveled this areas as well and brought this coins back with themselves.
Furthermore, the author asserts that why just one coin was found there. In contrast, the professor believes that the North American settlements were always on move and they might have packed all their silvers to Europe and just one left behind.
Eventually, the author claims that these coins must have been useless for them since they were not their currency.
Conversely, the speaker holds the view that North American people always valued these objects as precious things and utilized them as neckless or decorative tools. Moreover, as they were interested in invaluable materials, silver coins must have been used as trade goods.
