The lecturer claims that there are several benefits from persuading doctors to adopt electronic medical record system. However, the lecturer casts serious doubt on this claim by presenting counter-arguments and examples. She believes that none of these proofs are convincing.
On the first place, the lecturer contends that reduce in cost is not a significant goal of this strategy due to people never stop using paper also continue their process based on using of its and store them because they need to signature on some emergency letter, therefore it is impossible to interrupt the use of paper. This, however, is contradicted to the reading passage argues that the use of electronic records can help reduce costs by saving money on storing and transferring medical records, moreover, we do not need huge storage space to keep papers.
On the other hand, it is noted in the passage that electronic medical records are crucial to reducing the chances of medical errors. In contrast, She clearly states that most of the doctors do not adapt themselves with this electronic record, thus during the time that they work write everything on the paper and when their work are finished give their handwriting to their employee in order to enter data in the system in addition, because doctors write in fast speed, it is really hard to read them correctly, hence by this advance maybe employee makes a mistake and submits wrong information in the system.
Finally, the speaker points out that it is really hard for doctors to access to patient data thanks to it is confined by some restricted rules beside that even they need to have their patients permission. For example, some people block their user for any purpose which make the inconvenient situation for doctors to achieve with the information that they want. Nonetheless, the note asserts that electronic medical records can greatly aid medical research by making it possible to gather large amounts of data from the patient record.
