The reading and the lecture are both about the whether the Pterosaurs , which is some type of reptiles, can fly or not. The reading supports the idea that they can't fly, while the lecture casts doubts on this assumption by providing three reasons.
First of all, the article states that Pterosaurs are cold-blooded animals which have slow rate of metabolism, which is necessary to give them the needed amount of energy to fly. The lecturer refutes this suggestion by saying that the Pterosaurs were found to have fur or hair, the same like flying birds, which means that they are warm blooded animals and consequently have high rate of metabolism. Hence, their bodies are capable of producing the amount of energy required to fly.
Secondly, the reading claims that the Pterosaurs are too heavy to be able to raise their bodies from the ground and fly. The lecturer rebuts this claim by stating that the bones of the dinosaurs were hollow, and the structure of the body was light, despite of the large size. Therefore, they were able to flap their wings and fly, just like birds.
Finally, the reading states that the dinosaurs were not able to fly because their legs are not strong enough to lift them up on the air like birds, which they their hind legs to raise themselves in the air. The lecturer refutes his claims by saying that the dinosaurs has four legs or limbs, which were so strong that they could use them to lift them in the air by jumping or running fast and gliding.
