The reading passage lists three possible solutions to save the declining frog populations while the professor in the lecture thinks none of them is practical.

The first view the lecturer argues is that it will cause economic unfair to the farmers living near the frog habitats if they are banned to use pesticides. Farmers will lose their advantages in price because they rely on pesticides to have a higher crop yield. That is to say, the claim in the reading that the government should set up laws to prohibit the use of harmful pesticides in order to increase the number of frogs is not practical.

Secondly, the reading holds the opinion that researchers can help frogs maintain their population by giving them the treatment of a fungus. The professor, however, mentions that this method is complicated and expensive since treatment has to be conducted individually. Plus, frogs have no ability to pass on the treatment, so the same treatment is also needed for the new generations. Thus, the professor fights against the suggestions in the reading again.

Finally, the professor represents her idea that the real reason that threatens frogs' habitats is not the excessive water use but the Global Warming. Their habitats, like the wetland, dried up because of the increasing temperature. In that case, it is useless to prohibit people to use water since Global Warming is the key threaten, which is far from the view in the reading that the population of frogs will increase by protecting water areas.
