The reading exposes some facts about establishing collonies in asteroids. However the professor cast doubts and saying that this may not be praticle due to several reasons.
The first one it's because asteroids with the low gravity are unsafe. They offer some risks to human health such as body mass loses and diminishing of bone desity. To crontradictis the reading states that wold be safer landing in places wiht less gravity. In addition it wold cost less fuel to get in and get out the asteroid.
Second, the professor explain that the cost involved in mining a asteroid are to high. Furthermore, if we find a large sorce of metals, after mining it, the reserves of metal will grow and the prices goes down. This fact may elavates even more the mining cost in asteroids. On the contrary, according to the reading an asteroid colony would be very profitable.
Third, the professos says that althougit maybe easy to reach an asteroid near the earth. The asteroid's orbital path leads it to places far away from mars or the moon. However the readin says that is easy to reach a asteroid from our planet.
