The article states that Fuel-cell engines have several advantages over internal-combustion engines and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor says that burning oil through internal-combustion engine harms the environment but Hydrogen is not the alternative source of energy for cars and refutes each of the author’s reasons.

First, the reading states that the internal-combustion engine relies on petroleum, which is a finite resource. The professor refutes this point by stating that Hydrogen is not the solution for this problem because Hydrogen is not easily available. Hydrogen has to be in pure liquid state to be used in fuel-cell engine and that required very difficult technology to store liquid hydrogen because Hydrogen must be kept cold, so it s not practical or easy to be used.

Second, the article claims that Hydrogen-based fuel cells are attractive because they will solve many of the world’s pollution problems. In contrast, the reading states that Hydrogen does not solve the pollution problem, because pure Hydrogen produces a lot of pollution. The professor says that getting pure Hydrogen, you have to use purification process that requires lots of energy and that obtained by burning coil or oil. So, factories produce a lot of pollution that the cars would pollute.

Third, the author states that people will spend less money to operate a fuel-cell engine than they will to operate internal-combustion engine.In contrast, the professor says that the fuel-cell engine requires an expensive component made of platinum to be manufactured.
