The reading claims that in the United States, many workers tend to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay in order to do so. However, the lecturer finds all the idea dubious and presents some compelling evidence to refute them all.
The author argues that this event would benefit the individual companies and workers who decided to take the four-day week and the company can hire morestaff. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that this reason is highly questionable due to the fact that the four-day workers have more offices and more computers for their jobs. When the number of workers increases, the money for training and medical is boosting, and it is not cost-consuming for a company.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that issue boost company profits because companies have fewer overworked and error-prone employees and the companies can hire morestaff. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that if the company decides to hire morestaff, it should pay more money to employees and it is not consuming. If this event continues, no additional jobs will be created and current jobs may become more unpleasant.
Finally, the reading asserts that individual employees have more free time for developing the quality of their lives or improving leisure activities. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that these workers maybe lost their job and harm the chance of having an advance career, especially when they have more time for other activities.
