Both the reading and listening part mentions about possible factors that decline the sea otters; as the reading defined: there is main reason for this disaster, and it is the pollution that effects their population; however, the lecturer opposes with this hypothesis and stated some reasons to reject this idea.
First of all, the reading stated some environmental pollution like industrial activities that releases the oil and chemical substances, cause their population to decrease. On the other hand, the lecturer maintained the lack of evidence to provide sea pollution sources, shows this idea`s weakness.
Moreover, the passage stated that all sea species population declined, that shows the environmental pollution as the main elements that effects the ecosystem; however, the lecturer most reason of the fact is the human who start to hunt the wheal, so their population starts to decrease, but orcas have this opportunity to prey on small sea mammal to survive, and it caused all spices to decline.
Finally, the reading part mentions to some locations that they have survive environment and others does not have which approves the pollution as a main reason; however, the lecturer presents some ideas which contradicts by this viewpoint, as she defined the orcas prepare to survive in shallow and rocky places which it is difficult to other species to survive there and it caused they face less food sources.
