The lecture and the article are both about the effect of salvage logging on the forest and economy. The article feels that salvage logging is very beneficial for the natural jungles and for economy and provides three reasons of suport. The lecturer chellenges the claims made by the article. He is of the opinion that these explanations are faulty.
To begine with, the writer states that if dead trees are removed, the space will provide for fresh growth. The specific argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that log decomposing is very useful for the soil and make the soil enrich. Without decomposing the forests soil is very weak and free of nutrients so the new plans don't have enrich soil to grow.
Secondly, the author mentions that decaying wood would be a sutable habitat for harmful insects like bark beetles which are important danger for the trees. The lecturer, however rebuts this by mentioning that bark beetles have lived in forests for a long time and they are not a serious threat for the trees. Moreover, the harmful effects of salvage logging is more important than this kind of insects.
Last but not least, The author posits that logging industriesnot only have an important affect on the economy but also provide a lot of jobs for human. In contrast, the lecturer position is that savage logging is an expensive industy and need some xpensive devices like helicopter to relocate loges and also these kind of job is temporary. In addition, No one can rely on temporery jobs.
