The reading passage and lecture are both about whether it is true that surprisingly cold temperature is caused by certain factors. The reading strongly postulates that there were indisputably harsh winter and glacier raise larger in many specific areas and scientists doubt that what caused the little ice age. On the other hand, The listening adamantly delineates that the author's arguments are groundless because most researchers assert that these points a little bit out of date because of several compelling reasons.
First and foremost, According to the author of the excerpt that cool climate has been caused by ocean currents due to the fact that many glaciers melted and it caused a great deal of cold water into Gulf stream so the evidence conclusively proofs that freshwater contributed to creating the little ice age. Nonetheless, the professor offsets these points by declaring that the climate affected not only in America and Europe also in new Zealand and Southern areas so it is impossible to create it.
On top of this, The professor in the lecture elaborates by bringing up the point that if volcanic explosion influenced it, the characteristic of the eruption had to produce visual colour which people can easily notice it such as a colourful rainbow. However, there aren't any reports and news about this event even this is the eruption the volcano sends out a large amount of dust. these claims refute the author's indications about volcanic blast emits a great number of dark clouds and sulfur acids which can spread over areas and hinder the Earth's surface entirely.
The text lastly insists that dramatic reduction of the human population has caused the little ice age because if early people didn't use forest trees for their agriculture and other things for a while, during that time the trees absorb the pretty amount of greenhouse from the atmosphere and it leads to decrease temperature significantly. The speaker in the lecture counter these indications by asserting that long-term of freezing weather couldn't possibly the fault of humankind because there is inadequate time to the trees receive a lot of carbon dioxide from the air due to a dramatic increase of population.
