As stated in the reading passage, the author proposes several reasons why it is impossible to maintain a human presence on Venus, which are case serious doubt on by the listening passage which argues that space station above Venus's atmosphere can solve the problems which are pointed out by the author.
Firstly, as the author claims, the pressure on Venus is so high that neither spacecraft nor human can land on Venus. On the contrary, the listening passage believes that it is possible for human to live in the station above Venus's atmosphere. The higher the station locates, the less the pressure. The pressure of 50 kilometers' high is the same as on Earth, so spacecrafts and human will not be crushed. Accordingly, Building station above Venus make human be on Venus, which proves that the first reading point doesn't hold up.
Secondly, the author points out that there are no water reservoirs on Venus's and it is impractical to deliver water from Earth, but in the contrast, the speaker views that station can get water and oxygen from Venus. The atmosphere of Venus is made of all kinds of compounds including carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid which can be converted into water and oxygen. Thus there is no need to supply water from the Earth. Therefore, people in the station can get water and oxygen from Venus, which thus clashes with the writer's point of view.
Finally, the reading passage insists that there are little sunlight reaches Venus' s surface which means humans couldn't get electricity to power their machines or equipment, however, the speaker contends with the writer's statement by arguing that space station can get enough sunlight for powering their machines. There are clouds at the 50 kilometer's high atmosphere but they are not thick, which allows sunlight to pass through. Besides, erecting station above helps people use solar power cells getting sunlight both directly reaches station and from reflecting. Thus, it is possible to get sunlight on Venus and, which challenges the last viewpoint of the writer.
