The passage and the talk both discuss factors which have affected the populations of frog. The passage claims that declining the number of frogs can be solved by three proposed methods. The lecture, in contrast, not only refutes the author's assessments, but also asserts that the announced claims run counter to the statements of the reading. The lecturer puts forth three reasons to categorically reject whatever mentioned in the passage.

The first allegation of the reading against which the professor argues is that the prohibition of harmful chemical pesticides by farmers can have a remarkable effect on the number of frogs. Nevertheless, the lecturer highlights the fact that this solution is impractical. He further asserts that farmers significantly rely on these pesticides in order to protect their crops and compete in terms of economical with the farmers of other areas. Thus this point proves the main idea of the reading wrong.

Second, according to the passage, applying antifungal medication and killing the fungus with the heat in on a large scale tend to protect the population of frog from infection; however, the speaker finds this idea debatable. She gives support to her opinion by stating that this method should be applied to each individual frog. Also it this process should be repeated for new generation again and again, which is really expensive and complicated.

Finally, the lecturer contradicts the mistaken belief in the reading that frog population decline is because of human activities, which threaten the wetland habitats. The lecturer, on the other hand, mentions that human beings’ water usage is not the biggest threat. He points out that global warming is the factor which impacts water and wetland on the Earth.

In summary, the points made by the professor in the lecture cast doubts on the reading. Lack of evidence in the claim of the reading, really call into question the validity of this passage. It is of the utmost importance in consumption of information to not take all at face value.
