ummarize the points made in the lecture you just heard, explaining how they cast doubt on the specific theories discussed in the reading passage.
The reading and lecture are both about whether human activity directly contributed to the extinction of bison. The author of the article presents three possible theories about how human activities caused the elmination of bison. The lecture disputes the calims made in the articlel. His position is that human acitivity is not the major reason of the disappereance of bison.
According to the reading, one theory about extinction of bison is that human treat bison as their main food source. The article mentions that the normadic huunter saw bison as a limitless food soruce and would hunte bison endless, therefore drived entire specie into extinction. This specific argument is challenged by the lecture. He claims that 19th century human are incapable of such massive slaughter. Additionally, he points out that if the disapperance of bison was because of human consumption, there should be corresponding connection between the the number of bison and migration which happened during 19th century where people moved from east to west.
Secondly, the author suggests that human introduced other animal that directly could compete with bison, and exausted the food resources for bison. n. In the article, it is said that animal like catlle and horses made their way into the habitat of bison and resulted malnutrition amoung biso. The lecture however, asserts that bison would be capable of competing other animal with their large and strong body. He goes on to say that most bison lived in cold and mountain areas which are hard to approach by hourses.
Finally, the author posits that the development of automatic weapon caused the increased scale of bison killing. The author contends that weapons like rifles had much more fire power than traditional weapones. In contrast, the lecture's stance is that rifles in 19th century had the same power as bow and arrow. He notes that if bison was hunted to extinction by gun then there should be decreasing signs of other animals.
